Manchester United transfer news: Latest on Declan Rice, Matthijs de Ligt’s next club and Idrissa Gueye replacing Ander Herrera
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to be backed in the transfer window this summer
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to oversee a summer clear-out at Manchester United.
The Red Devils missed out on Champions League football after finishing the season in sixth place and a number of current first team players are expected to leave.
Major changes will be needed if Solskjaer’s men are to regain their top-four place next term.
Here are the latest transfer rumours surrounding United…
Manuel Pellegrini on Declan Rice’s future
Declan Rice has been linked with a summer move to the Premier League’s top clubs, including Manchester United. Despite signing a new long-term contract last December, West Ham could still face a battle to keep the England midfielder.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini admitted the 20-year-old’s future is uncertain.
Speaking after the Hammers’ 4-1 final-day win over Watford on Sunday, he said: “It’s impossible. I cannot know the future.
“He is, of course, a player who has had a brilliant season, who is 20 years old and an English player who has a lot of qualities.
“Maybe some of the big teams, or all of them, will want him. But that is one thing – the other is whether he will stay here or he goes, and I cannot say at this moment.”
Sporting Lisbon slap huge price tag on Bruno Fernandes
Manchester United face competition from Manchester City and Atletico Madrid to land Bruno Fernandes.
The attacking midfielder has been prolific in Portugal this season, netting 20 goals and providing 13 assists in 32 league games.
Portuguese outlet Record claim United will have to pay £60million for his services.
However, City are believed to see Fernandes as a long-term successor to ageing midfielder David Silva.
Manchester United identify Ander Herrera replacement
Ander Herrera will end his five-year spell with United this summer, the club announced on Saturday. The midfielder was unable to agree fresh terms with United chiefs and is reportedly set to join Paris Saint-Germain.
Everton’s Idrissa Gueye, who was heavily linked with a move to the French champions in January, has become a £40million target for the Red Devils, according to the Daily Mail.

The report says United believe the 29-year-old could improve Paul Pogba’s performances by offering the side defensive cover in a similar way in which N’Golo Kante does for France.
The Toffees are understood to accept Gueye wants to leave Goodison Park.
Youri Tielemans unsure what the future holds for him
The Belgium international impressed during his spell on loan at Leicester, but will now return to Monaco to wait for future to be sorted out.
He has been linked with Man United, Tottenham and Arsenal, but told VTM Nieuws: “At the moment there’s nothing. If things are going well you want to keep it like that. I don’t know what Monaco will be asking, so I can’t talk about it.”
Brendan Rodgers would no doubt like to keep the 22-year-old at Leicester, having scored three goals and created four in 13 Premier League appearances.
Matthijs de Ligt still in the dark about his future
The Dutch teenager is coveted by a host of elite European clubs after an outstanding season in Amsterdam.
Ajax team-mate Frenkie de Jong will join Barcelona in the summer and it still appears likely De Ligt will join him in Spain. “I don’t know yet. There have been conversations, but there is still no agreement,” the 19-year-old said when asked about interest from the LaLiga champions.
Man United are another side interested in him and the club’s director of football, Edwin van der Sar admitted De Ligt will be off.
“I think these will be de Ligt’s final games with Ajax, but I hope he goes out on a high,” he said.
“He’s been here since he was a child and will end up at a big club. I think he’ll go to England or Spain.”
