Dean Ambrose to AEW: Former WWE star accidentally leaks Ambrose’s debut at Double or Nothing
The WWE really didn’t want to lose Ambrose, but it now looks like Jon Moxley is going to make an impression in All Elite Wrestling
All Elite Wrestling’s debut event Double or Nothing is taking place in just eight days time at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Dean Ambrose left the WWE at the end of April after nine very successful years with the company.
A few days later, Ambrose posted a video under his independent wrestling name Jon Moxley that suggested he is not going to be out of action long.
In fact, many fans thought the video was laden with clues that Ambrose would be making his AEW bow at Double or Nothing, but now we have something concrete.
During an interview with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Jake Hager – aka Jack Swagger during his time with WWE – seemed to reveal Ambrose’s big debut.
“I don’t want to step in Jon Moxley’s shadow,” Hager said when asked about potentially moving to AEW. “I think that’s going to be a great debut for him, hopefully I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that’s where we see him at.”
“I think anything is possible. It’s awesome, awesome to be a part of this. It’s definitely why I left [WWE] in 2017 because I knew that pro wrestling was going to have such big opportunities and new platforms for young businessmen who are serious and who are trying to provide for their families to come out and excel and excel the way you want to and work with the people you want to and build your brand the way you want to which is the most important thing.”
Swagger seemed to think that Moxley will show up in Las Vegas – where he also lives coincidentally – but all we have is his word at this point.
With news of AEW’s TV deal with Turner Broadcasting in the US and a relationship with ITV in the UK, fans will have every chance to see Moxley if he does join.
